ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS
President Bruce Jellard
President Bruce Jellard opened the meeting welcoming the members, visitors and the guest speaker.
He had a further meeting with the Committee preparing the District Conference and related events.
On 9 June, the day before the District Conference, a Golf Tournament will be held at the Bali Golf and Country Club. Rotarians from all over Indonesia and beyond are invited to participate. They in turn may invite friends associated with Rotary. The entry fees will be IDR 750.000,- for Rotarians and IDR 850.000,- for guests.
The primary hole in one prize is going to be IDR 100.000.000,- sponsored by the incoming District Governor.
The golf will be concluded by a dinner on the Club premises followed by the award presentation. Transport will be available for those staying at the Sanur Paradise Hotel, the venue of the District Conference.
The President then asked the floor to present or raise points of common interest.
Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
He informed that an Extraordinary Board Meeting shall be held on 24 March, 12.00. The topic will be the District Resolutions each club is asked to vote on until 31 March.
The Club has also to fill the forms for RY 2010-2011 President Citation Award.
Ari Murti
She introduced today’s guest speaker.
The latest figures of January and February on AIDS show that about 1/3 of the people suspected of AIDS are indeed found HIV positive.
PP Mercia Inkiriwang
She is of the opinion that all clubs of Indonesia are eligible to participate in the President Citation Award regardless whether or not they have signed the Club Assembly Agreement on Future Vision.
In her function as AG she will be available at the Board meeting on 24 March to provide additional information on the District resolutions.
Gary Phair
He introduced his guest. He is a regular visitor to Bali also interested in golf.
The Tennis Committee, represented by PP W. Nieman and himelf had a meeting on 11 March. The Committee continues to look for a new ball sponsor. The Tennis Committee plans to meet again on 24 March, 11.00 a.m.
Eddie Fitzgerald
As a matter of fact this is his third meeting of this [calendar] year.
Emily Rowe, PhD
She works for Kerti Praja Foundation active in the field of HIV/Sexually Transmitted Infections prevention, care, support and empowerment of People Living With HIV/AIDS.
The Foundation, established in 1992, addresses the general public but specifically female and male sex workers and high risk men.
HIV&AIDS in Bali is growing rapidly. Initially concentrated on sex workers and drug addicts HIV/AIDS has become a generalized epidemic with increasing numbers of housewives and their children being affected. Bali with 1725 officially registered cases has the 5th highest infection rate among the Indonesian provinces. 75% of the HIV/AIDS infected people in Bali are male.
Kerti Praja Foundation is currently expanding their prevention of mother to child transmission program, in conjunction with specially trained midwives.
The foundation is funded among others by AusAID, Global Fund, the local and national Government and private donors.

Tickets for IDR 180.000,- were sold. Dona Poskiparta won a 90 minutes massage at the Jari Menari Spa sponsored by Susan Stein. Past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at the forthcoming meetings.
