ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS
President Bruce Jellard
President Bruce Jellard welcomed members, visitors and guests. As the guest speaker for today had to cancel his coming John Hadley was asked to give a brief presentation on his experience in organizing sport events, in particular golf tournaments.

He reported that the Club has deposited a considerable sum with OCB-NISP offering better terms than Bank Mandiri.
The President then asked the floor to present or raise points of common interest.

Dave Lance
He had to give the last luncheon meeting a miss as he had to bring his wife to Singapore in a medical emergency.

Ari Murti
The Director General of Heath has been to Puskesmas Nusa Dua. He was impressed by the mid wife training program which he wanted to be replicated country wide and broadened to include the training of doctors and nurses.

Puskesmas Nusa Dua is soon to have a mobile clinic which shall be also used for screening of pregnant women on HIV.

PP Edward Naus
Under his tenure as Sergeant at Arms he sold all Raffles ticket but one. He asked the Secretary and the Treasurer to have new tickets printed for the next week luncheon. PP Jo Rosarius, to who the task will fall, considered this a very short notice.

Roger Thomas
He shared a joke on computers with the audience.

Gary Phair
The Tennis Committee has been in session prior to the luncheon meeting:

  • Still more sponsors for tennis shirts are required.
  • Those who have sponsored shirts already are kindly reminded to bring the cash.
  • The internet auction is up and running. He asked all members to spread this information and link to their friends.
  • Pure Tennis will be running the tournament.
  • Helpers for the tournament are required. A roster will be distributed later in which volunteers may put down their names. Eni Pilianingsih will coordinate the helpers from Rotaract.
  • Entry forms are available at strategic places.

Risto Poskiparta
He had created a roster for helpers during the Tennis Tournament which was circulated. Volunteers are especially required at the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel.

John Hadley
He started with giving an outline of his life and carrier.

He is an Australian citizen, left school at the age of 15, joined the Australian PGA tour at the age of 18. He participated in several large tournaments including the Australian Masters where he played with some of the Greats of golf including Jack Nicklaus.

In 1962 he became a teaching pro in Cairns, moved to Perth where he managed the Wembley public golf course for 10 years.

He then started a career in promoting golf tournaments throughout Australia. Golf tournaments are a great vehicle for raising money for charity. The PGA tour of America is estimated to generate funds for charity in the range of USD 400.000.000 annually.

He was also involved in the promotion of F1 races.

He has the idea of bringing a senior golf tournament with some 30-40 Asian/Australian professionals to Bali. He put forward the idea of combining such event which a Rotary Charity Golf Tournament.

The President said this proposeal will be taken up and considered. He and floor thanked John Hadley for his impromptu presentation with a big hand.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 430.000,- were sold. A Bottle of fine liqueur donated by Dave Lance was the prize this time. Past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at the forthcoming meetings.

Fines
Fines of IDR 20.000,– were collected for all and sundry offences.
