ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS
VP Risto Poskiparta

VP Risto welcomed members. He advised members that PP Mimi, PP Jo and Karl Heinz will attend the District’s TRF seminar on the 20th August to be held at Kopi Bali Sanur.

PP Jo Rosarius

PP Jo has requested all members who have not paid their dues to pay up. SAA Martin will start levying cumulative fines for every week the dues are not paid, starting next week.

He also reported that contrary to PDG Dr. Ritje’s email of last week reminding him that the update on the matching grant was overdue, he had received information from RI that his update had been received and accepted.

Priti Kapur
Priti passed on a request from District 3400 to our club for an advertisement for the magazine for the Rotary Institute Seminar in December, to V.P. Risto for consideration by the board. Half page ads are USD 600,- , and full page ads USD1.000,-.

Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
Karl Heinz provided a detailed update on the Community services projects discussed in the meeting prior to our lunch meeting.

1. Proposed extension of the midwife training program to Kabupaten Klungkung.
Committee voted unanimously to recommend to the Board the adoption of the project with a budget of IDR 14.450.000,-

2. Operation of a girl affected by a bone disease.
The project has been referred to Mimi by our former member Peter Richter. The cost of an operation is estimated at IDR 75.000.000,- The funding of operations of individuals was put into question. In any case the cost of the operation were considered too high for RCBND to shoulder alone. Karl to submit the file to Dr. Reno, who shall be asked to look into the case ñ his time permitting.

3. Mobile physiotherapy clinic for YPK.
The mobile physiotherapy clinic for YPK shall be made a topic when next meeting with ALF/Dasra.

4. Mifta, the boy with facial deformity, has had a third operation.Following action has been agreed:

  • Find out cost/receive latest invoice. Jo
  • Board to consider and decide payment of third invoice. Board
  • Advise Sanglah hospital in writing that any further operation requires prior approval by RCBND. PP Jo
  • Obtain statement/report from operating doctors on all previous operations. Dr. Reno
  • If case can be concluded now after the third operation close the case for RCBND by sending a letter to the parents and initial sponsor. Edward
  • Asked the initial sponsor of the case, Michael Tuddenham, to participate in the cost of the third operation. Edward
  • If case is still ongoing by November get an opinion from visiting surgeon Dr. David David from Adelaide. PP Jo

5. Children with skin disease.
Dr Reno, Dona and Dave Lance are following up on this case.

6. Cintanak.
The Committee was briefed on the funding details. The approved amount of IDR 30.000.000 was submitted to Edward.

7. Cleft Lip

  • PP Jo reported 4 further operations conducted. On the occasion of a visit to Sanglah hospital last week with visiting Rotarians from Australia the head of Sanglah hospital hinted an increase in operating cost. Jo to monitor the development aimed at avoiding or minimizing an increase.
  • PP PMimi reported many cases of cleft lip in Sumba. The cost of travelling for operation in Bali was considered too expensive. If we want to help a doctorís team need to operate in Sumba. This is being looked into.

9. Kerti Praja Foundation (KPF)
Ari submitted a proposal for funding Kerti Praja Foundation (KPF) with USD 3000, – per year to cover cost in medical supplies for HIV tests and STI (sexually transmitted infections) screening.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 160.000,- were sold. The prize, a ceramic bowl, was won by Axel Kniep. Axel and previous winner PP Michael Burchett are requested to bring in raffle prizes. Past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at the forthcoming meetings.

Fines
Fines of IDR 20.000,- were collected for all and sundry offences.
