ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS
Vice President Risto
Vice President Risto welcomed visiting Rotarians, members and their guests.
VP Risto reported that the impromptu Board Meeting that was to be held at 12.30PM did not eventuate as President Dave needed to check earthquake damage at the House of Lance.
VP Risto noted guest Matt’s fashion statement in sporting shorts to the Acting Sergeant at Arms
VP Risto then sent the microphone around the table.
Guest Matt Thorpe
Matt Thorpe advised that he was in Bali for the anniversary ceremony at the Australian Consulate Memorial for the Bali Bomb. Matt also gave a brief update on the progress of the Aneka Linden Foundation building project noting the ground blessing ceremony had been held.
Martin Aeschlimann
Martin Aeschlimann gave a brief update on Vocational Services.
Keith Bell
Keith Bell noted that was Acting Sergeant at Arms and was keeping a careful watch on proceedings.
Guest Joseph De Wolke
Joseph gave a brief summary of his role as a consultant to The Aneka Linden Foundation and that he will be in Bali for 6 months before heading back to his base in India.
Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
Karl-Heinz Schmelzer gave an update on Community Service projects that are currently underway.
- A midwives training program will be held 27 to 28 October with an anticipated attendance of 30.
- Kerta Praja is underway with our support of medical supplies to the clinic.
- The Malnutrition Nusa Dua project needs to sort out funding issues with the District.
- The Sawangan ROLE project is progressing with the truck, bins and shredder all in train and Karl and Risto will meet with ROLE on further planning later in the day.
Gary Phair
Gary Phair advised that the Bike A Fund will be on Sunday and that 5 of our members plus 5 guests would participate.
PP Bruce Jellard
PP Bruce Jellard updated the meeting on our major annual fundraiser the Charity Golf Tournament which will be held at Bali Golf on 12 November 2011. PP Bruce advised that sponsorship of the holes was proceeding very well with only 6 or 7 holes still available for sponsorship.
PP Bruce also noted that The Bali Oil Classic participants have donated Rp84 million from their annual tournament held the preceding weekend at Bali Golf.
PP Bruce was also pleased to advise that Club Car have generously donated Rp25 million to the tournament.
Ari Murti
Ari reported that she had just got back from attending the HIV Conference in Jogjakarta.
Ari also gave an update on HIV in Bali and provided some worrying statistics regarding life expectancy rates in Bali compared to the first world countries.
Ari also noted the midwives training seminar which will be held 27 to 28 October.
PP Mercia Inkiriwang
PP Mimi provided an on the spot news report of damage to Carrefour from the earthquake that hit Bali a bit earlier in the day.
PP Jo Rosarius
PP Jo Rosarius advised the meeting that the third and final invoice for the operation on Mifta to correct a severe facial deformity had finally been received. The third invoice is for Rp. 11 million bringing the total for the three operations to 39 million. It was noted that Edward had advised that an Australian donor had agreed to donate Rp. 6 million towards the cost and he will follow up on that.
GUEST SPEAKER PRESENTATION
VP Risto. The microphone eventually found its way back to VP Risto who reminded all that there will be a special joint Rotary Rotaract fellowship evening at 7.00PM on 12 November replacing our lunch meeting for that day. He urged all Rotarians to make a special effort to attend to show their support for our Rotaracts. The cost will be Rp 200,000,- and Rotarians are encouraged to bring spouse or partners.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 400.000,- were sold. The prize of a bottle of Australia’s finest was won by Gary Phair. Past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at the forthcoming meetings.
Fines
Fines of IDR 140.000,- were imposed for all and sundry offences. Keith Bell (and an anonymous mutter was heard concerning the quantum of today’s fines in comparison with our current and past SAA’s efforts!)
Notable fines were Vice President Risto and Acting Secretary Gary for being too slow on their feet to avoid Acting Duties and the Swiss contingent for congregating at one end of the table and thus adopting a partisan rather than their customary neutral position.
