ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS
Vice President Risto Poskiparta
Vice President Risto welcomed members and guests.

Five issues of The Rotarian magazine have arrived together, members were invited to help themselves to whichever issue/s interested them.

THERE WILL BE NO MEETING ON DECEMBER 29th. This notice has been posted on the website.

PP Mercia Inkiriwang
PP Mimi reported that the @0th Annual Orphanage Christmas Party was a success.

Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
Karl Heinz provided an update on ongoing projects, and mentioned projects that were being considered by the Community Services Committee. He also requested members to come up with projects for 2012.

  • Some new projects discussed at the Community Service Meeting were:
  • A scholarship for HIV children – this may be handled by the Vocational Services Committee;
  • A school in Flores that is urgently in need of everything;
  • Munti Gunung – possibly a “water harnessing roof” for one of the villages;
  • Funding for Sister Robin’s midwife project;
  • Apprenticeships for the financially disadvantaged – possibly in the hospitality industry;
  • Provide a Dialysis machine at Sanglah or BIMC for those who cannot afford dialysis

NB: A couple of members remarked that Muli Gunug had ample funds and had requested support in the form of marketing their products.

Dr. Reno
Dr. Reno had the person referred to him by Rtn. Eni to an orthopedic surgeon in Bali, who is confused by the case. He asked members if they could suggest a surgeon, possibly form overseas, with whom he could consult.

PP Michael Burchett
PP Michael announced that the scheduled guest speaker would speak at January’s meeting, but that Joseph De Volk was here to give an update on the program he was running for the AL Foundation.

Mr. Joseph De Volk
Mr. De Volk updated members on the status of Annika Linden Foundation

  • The Annika Linden foundation is building a Centre of Excellence in Topati, bali. This is intended to be a one stop shop, putting foundations in touch with prospective funding, and proving, for a fee, services such as accounting, auditing, financial planning etc to foundations.
  • He is currently running an “MBA” program for 4 yayasans in Bali, the end product of which will be a strategic plan. The program graduation will be in January, when the 4 yayasans will present their plans. He will invite our club, along with other fund raisers, to attend this graduation and to network.”

Vice President Risto closed the meeting with thanks to all for attending, and members thanked him for the wine!
