ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS
President Dave Lance

Tony is involved with the ‘Soccaroos’, Australia’s National Football (European Football) in WA, and presented RCBND with a ‘Soccaroo’ shirt signed by the national team, to auction to raise funds, or use as the club desires!

Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
Karl Heinz gave an update on the Sawangan Waste Management pilot project. “The project is in its first month of operation and going well. Garbage is collected 3 times a week and the truck is full – garbage that would otherwise be indiscriminately dumped in Sawangan. There appears to be need for one more bin.”

PP Jo Rosarius
PP Jo presented a summary of the financial statues of the Global grant for our cleft palate program advising that 108 operations have been preformed from the time we received the matching grant in 2010. There is about USD 10,000.00 left to spend, which will take about 2 to 3 months, at the current rate and price of operations. After this we shall apply for another grant”

Martin Aeshlimann
Martin Aeshlimann informed members that the 2 Vocational services projects being considered:

  • a scholarship for HIV children;
  • a cooks apprenticeship program for financially disadvantaged youth. Martin would explore the availability of training material while he was overseas for the next two weeks

The community services committee is working through proposals that have been submitted for new programs. Karl Heinz will send out an email inviting all members to submit proposals.

PP Edward Naus
PP Edward announced that he will shortly provide confirmation and details on a donation from a Rotary Club in Holland to the value of 3,000 to 5,000 Euros toward our cleft palate program.

President Dave Lance
President Dave commented that the Sawangan Waste Management pilot project was going extremely well into this first month of operation and we are working on making it self-sustaining and a model for other communities.

Dave announced that the club would embark on a PR campaign to publicise the good work done by our club and attract membership. Rtn. Tressabel will assist in this.

Furthermore President Dave announced changes in the club’s future leadership. Inasmuch as Karl-Heinz will spend a large part of the coming year overseas, Risto Poskiparta is now PE for 2012/2013, and Karl-Heinz Schmelzer will be PE for 2013/2014.
