ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS
President Risto Poskiparta
President Risto Poskiparta opened the first meeting of this Rotary Year by welcoming the guests and members and introducing the Board Members and Committee Chairs.

Risto then gave an update of the Board meeting having taken place prior to this meeting:

  • The cleft lift project is currently on hold until fresh funds can be raised. It is intended to apply for a Global Grant as swiftly as possible.
  • The Sawangan waste management project shall run until 31.12.2012. It is intended to extent the project to the village of Peminge. The signing of a respective Memorandum of Understanding is delayed by the election of a new Banjar committee in Peminge.
  • Under the HIV programs so far up to 200 midwives had been trained. Ari Murti is preparing new proposals for which IDR 200.000.000 are being needed as of 1.1.2013. Currently IDR 55.000.000 are still available for HIV related projects.
  • The Vocational Service Committee is to meet next week.
  • Gary Phair briefed the Board about Rotaract activities.
  • Gary also gave an update on the preparation for the next tennis tournament.
  • The Club is to engage in a drive for new members.
  • The Vocational Service Committee is to meet next week.
  • Due to the absence of Bruce Jellard there were no news regarding the golf tournament to be held in November at New Kuta Golf.
  • Beside tennis and golf the Club wants to launch more fund raisers. All members are asked to come forward with ideas to be fed to Edward Naus.-
  • The Club still has some funds in various accounts. The raising of funds is now a top priority to finance the various projects.
  • It is intended to distribute the mobile phone numbers among the members. Anybody having an objection to her/his number been distributed shall please come forward.-
  • The monthly dues and TRF contribution are due for payment now.

Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
Karl-Heinz informed that he is happy to be back on Bali. His assignment to Ivory Coast which was initially planned for September has been delayed to November.

Ari Murti
HIV / AIDS positive persons whose rights are infringed due to their illness may receive legal counseling. Any such cases should be reported to her.

PP Michael Burchett
PP Michael said that he shall be sending out a statement on the malnutrition project run by Mimi Inkiriwang to seek approval for additional spending.

Mercia Inkiriwang
Effective 1.7.2012 District 3400 has been split into two Districts, namely 3410 and 3420. To maintain this status both District must increase their member’s numbers. RCBND is in D3420.

Guest John McLeod
John greeted everyone and stated the he is happy to join again the luncheon of RC Bali Nusa Dua.

PP W. Nieman
Pointed out that this will be the last luncheon meeting for Keith Bell, (sniff, sniff…)

Gary Phair
Regardin the upcoming tennis tournament, Gary advised that he has been in contact with Jeff Matthews and others and the tournament director to gain more publicity including gearing up facebook.

Gary also informed members that Rotaract shall shortly hold a handover meeting. He intends to invite the new and old Board of Rotaract to a joint dinner with RC Bali Nusa Dua in which Rotaract is to present past achievements and future plans.

Eni Pilianingsih
Eni explained that due to school holidays she has not been in contact recently with Rotaract regarding the Hip Hip child program. The last outing was on 17.6.2012 at the Circus Water Park.

Keith Bell
Keith (photo above, left) thanked everybody for the friendship extended to him over the last 5,5 years. He will remain a member of Rotary intending to join one of the clubs near his new home in Mexico.

Guest Paul Spakman
Paul thanked everyone for being invited to the Rotary luncheon and their hospitality.

Guest Rotarian Wim van Rijswijk
Wim gave some background of the bleak economical outlook in the Netherlands and the rest of Europe, predicting that fundraising to become more difficult in the time to come.

PP Edward Naus
As this year’s Chairman of the Club Service Committee he hopes that members come forward to serve the Club. Beside the traditional fund raisers like tennis and golf he intends to come up with other fund raising ideas.

PP Martin Smyth
Martin mentioned that PP Mimi’s son was insured in a car accident. He and with him the entire Club wish him a speedy recovery.

PP Jo Rosarius
Jo reminded on the payment of the dues:

  • District dues:IDR 200,000.-
  • Rotary International dues:USD55.00
  • The Rotary Foundation yearly contribution; USD100.00

The dues may be paid in USD or IDR but preferably in both currencies.

President Risto Poskiparta
He and the entire Club are sad to see Keith Bell leave Bali and the Club and wished him well.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 400,000- were sold. A silver bracelet, donated by PP Mimi, was won by PP Edward Naus. Past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at the forthcoming meetings.

Fines
Fines of IDR 150,000 were collected for all and sundry offenses.
