ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS
President Risto Poskiparta
President Risto opened the meeting by welcoming the District Governor, his entourage, guest and members.

President Risto before proceeding with the presentation to be given by Mike O’Leary on the waste management project Sawangan he asked the visitors, guests and members to introduce themself.

Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
Karl-Heinz informed that he gave a brief description of the waste management project Sawangan, welcomed once more the visiting members of the Banjar committee of Sawangan. On behalf of Ari Murti he summarized the anti HIV activities of the club.

Guest Howard Roy
Howard is a member of RC Bali Seminyak for 3 years. He is active in the fight against malaria, specifically by supplying mosquito nets to malaria plagued communities.

He hoped that once Polio has been declared eradicated RI would turn its focus and resources on the fight against Malaria.

Mimi Inkiriwang
Mimi reminded that so far only PP Jo Rosarius and she had registered for the Rotary Foundation seminar taking place on 11 August.

Martin Aeschlimann
Martin informed that he gave an update of the envisaged vocational service project which included training of cooks and growing of hydroponic plants at an orphanage in a drive to make the orphanage self-sustainable in food supplies.

Bipan Kapur
Bipan is actively pursuing the growth of membership of the club.He introduced Michele Giraudo, the new GM at The Bale.
He then drew the attention to a charity event to be held at the Westin hosting a musical performance from Iskandar Widjaja, a well-known Indonesian solo violinist. All proceeds from the Tickets sales would be donated to UNICEF COFC.

Guest Michele Giraudo
Michele had joined the management group around our member Jose Louis Calle 1,5 years ago. He has recently taken over the management of The Bale. He is impressed with the project the club is involved in.

Priti Kapur
Priti drew the attention to the forthcoming tennis tournament especially to the on-line auction as the main element for fund raising.

Martin Smyth
Martin is working on the realization of the hydroponic plant project with the Bali Life Foundation.

PP Jo Rosarius
PP Jo gave an outline on the club’s signature project, the funding of cleft lip and palate operation of Balinese children. Since 1994 the club has financed 1228 operations. Three matching grants have been obtained so far and a fourth is under preparation.

Guest Mike O’Leary
Mike gave a presentation on the joint waste management project Sawangan, outlining what has been done so far, what is planned for the months ahead. He also laid out a road map on how to make the project self-sustainable. A lot will hinge on the financial contribution that can we received from the Desa, the villagers and businesses in the area.
An important aspect is also continued education and awareness raising of the villagers.

Guest DG Panudiana Kuhn
DG Panudiana spoke of how he volunteered for the position of District Governor, the challenges he is facing in laying the foundation for an increase in membership from currently 950 to 1200 in the next 3 years. He thinks that fellowship and involvement of members is a key element in maintaining present and attracting new members.

He was of the opinion the RC Bali Nusa has been doing outstanding work and had contributed significantly the donation to RF for many years.

In appreciation of the performance of the club in the past Rotary Year he handed The Change Maker Award to the President. The Change Maker Award is given to clubs making a positive and significant change in the community and the world.

President, Risto Poskiparta, thanked him for his speech and his visit and assured him of the full support of the RC Bali Nusa Dua. The District Governor received the club’s flag and a big hand from the floor.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 560,000- were sold. A bottle of white wine donated by Marilyn Carson
Fines
Fines of IDR 10,000 were collected for all and sundry offenses.
