ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS
President Risto Poskiparta
President Risto Poskiparta opened the meeting by welcoming the guest and members.

President Risto informed that the Tennis Committee had been in session prior to the luncheon meeting. The tournament will start on 1 September; the courts of the hotels Nikko and Nusa Dua Beach and BTDC will be used.
The Committee is still busy getting sponsors on board focusing now on restaurant and hotels. It is expected that 90 % of the revenues will come from the on-line auction.

More players than last year (112) are being expected.

President Risto that some 30-40 children under the Hip Hip Child program run by Rotaract had an outing, this time a joint fast breaking.

President Risto suggested to ask Rotaract to assist in selling the 30 rackets donated by ProKennex whereas Bipan was in favour of using them as prizes.

Ari Murti
Ari is back after the fasting month during which she remined active in her flight against Aids. Assisted by doctors she had been councelling HIV positive people in conflict with the need to take their medicine while wanting to fast.

PP Merica Inkiriwang
PP Mimi will approach members to sponsor the Tennis Tee-shirts. Members may also sponsor individual players. Entry forms are available with her.

Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
For the benefit of the visitors he outlined the Sawangan waste manangement project.

Karl-Heinz informed that Axel Kneip was volunteered to do the bulletin for the coming two month starting on 30 August.

PP Jo Rosarius
PP Jo briefed members on the Hare Lip and Cleft Palate project under which since 1994 1,328 operations have been funded by the Club mainly from its own resources but also from three matching grants. A fourth grant, now called a Global Grant, is under preparation.

PP Michael Burchett
PP Michael thanked everybody for hving registered for the luncheon in due time which will help the hotel organizing the meals and maintaing the favourable price.

In absence of a guest speaker he asked today’s guests from the hospitality business to eleaborate on what kind of social projects the organizations they are working for are doing.

Michele Girando
Michele it is his second visit to the club. He is the GM of The Bale. Under the umbrella of BHA The Bale provides non-cash support to an orphange.

Sean Flakelar
Sean is now 12 months in Bali as country manager of the Aman Resort and the GM of the Aman Nusa Hotel. The Aman group has five properties in Indonesia. The group, among sevelal other engagements, supports an orphange in Amed. His motivation to come today’s meeting is to meet the members and learn about the projects of the club. He is concerned with the environmental impact the recent property development in Nusa Dua will be having on the area.

PP Bruce Jellard
PP Bruce will start contacting the sponsors for the annual golf tournament in about two weeks hoping for their continued generosity as they will be largely the same as for the tennis tournament.

Bipan Kapur
Bipan informed that is was possible to secure a sponsorship from ProKennex, Indonesia. They have donated 30 Tennis Racket estimated at USD 80 to USD 100 per racket.

Rhonda Lepsch
Rhonda Lepsch, together with her Balinese husband, are running an up-market dive center in Benoa. Both are engaged in several project such as an anti-shark finning campaign and protection of mangroves.

Agnes Winarti and Immanuella Talita
Guests Agnes and Immanuella both work for the Jakarta Post’s Bali Daily section. They interviewed the president and other memberss and showed keen interest in the projects of the club and the opinion of members towards various topics.

Howard Roy
Howard is happy to be here now the third time in row. He only grumbled a bit when fined for wearing short trousers to the luncheon.

Edward Naus
Edward is following up on the transfer from the two Dutch sponsors being confident that after the holiday season in the Netherlands the money will be received soon.

Axel Kneip .
Axel in addition to his future duties as bulletin composer has volunteered to do the minutes at the next Board Meeting.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 520,000- were sold. A bottle of red wine donated by Risto Poskiparta was won by Rhonda Lepsch. Past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at the forthcoming meetings.

Fines
Fines of IDR 10,000 were collected for all and sundry offenses.
