President Risto Poskiparta opened the meeting by welcoming the visiting Rotarians, the guest, visiting Rotaract BND and our members.
On 31 August President Risto will participate in the Presidents’ and Secretaries’ meeting (Subject: New Generation)

President Risto then informed that the Rotary Bali Charity Tennis Tournament will start on 1 September; the courts of the Hotel Nikko and Nusa Dua Beach and BTDC will used. Some volunteers are still needed for the first weekend. More players than last year (100) have registered.

Samples of the 30 tennis rackets, donated from ProKennex, with an estimated value of USD 80 to USD 100 per racket were on display. These will be sold or auctioned at IDR 500,000-550,000 for kids and juniors and IDR 750,000-800,000 for adults. Michael and Bruce offered to buy one each to be given to juniors, who cannot afford them. Perhaps coaches, who also give free lessons, could help to identify the recipients.

Priti Kapur
Priti Kapur advised the following:

  • 60 tickets for IDR 100.000 each are for sale for the Mega-Raffle, 15 prizes can be won. Draw will be Saturday at the Nikko.
  • Priti does not yet enough prices for the lucky draw and asks for further donations.
  • The auction has been online since 28 and will continue for 11 days, no bid yet for 5-6 items.
  • During the award ceremony awards this time will be presented by the sponsors.

PP Jo Rosarius
PP Jo, no news on Hare Lip and Cleft Palate because of the holidays.

PP Michael Burchett
PP Michael thanked everybody for having registered for the luncheon in due time which will help the hotel organizing the meals and maintaining the favourable price. He suggested pass on a copy of the menu to known visitors, so that they can make their own choices.

Axel Kneip
Axel presented some information about a pallet company to start in Tabanan shortly (details are attached). Our friend from R.O.L.E. Micchael O’Leary as supplier of plastic waste and Coca Cola as customer have been secured.

PP Mercia Inkiriwan
PP Mimi informed 80 t-shirts have already been donated, another 50 are needed. The amount of IDR 50,000 per shirt should be transferred Mercia Inkiriwang, Bank BCA, A/C No.: 1460775775.

Guest Yasuhiro Kuroiwa
Yasuhiro brought a banner of RC Maebashi West (north of Tokyo), Japan. We have to send one in return.

Wolf Goettel
Wolf (photo above) stressed that his club, RC Queenstown, Singapore, is well funded and always looking for projects.

Rotaract President Riris Sekarningrum
Riris presented this year’s goals and activites of Rotaract Bali Nusa Dua

  • To gain more members
  • To build people awareness of Rotaract Nus Dua

Projects to achieve that:

  • Cooperating with universities in their programs
  • Continuing projects involving many people
  • The HIPP-HIPP CHILD program is their new monthly activity. They already had 3 events before, the 4th this Rotary Year was playing with the children in Iba Yatama Orphanage, and also breaking the fast with them

Last year’s programs, all of which are ongoing were

  • Permanent Library
  • Campaign for washing hands and teeth brushing
  • Visit to Iba Yatama Orphanage
  • Helping children with skin problems
  • HIV / AIDS together with Rip Curl – educating people about HIV / AIDS and giving 1,000 condoms for free.

Rotaract Nusa Dua’s fund raising activities include selling towels and selling raffles tickets, i.e. at Skal and RCBND Christmas party. Riris informed that this year’s budget is IDR 12.700.000.

Tickets for IDR 730,000- were sold. A beautiful bottle of champagne donated by our second time guest, Rhonda Lepsch, who had won the Raffle last week, was won by Bipan Kapur. Past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at the forthcoming meetings.

Fines of IDR 10,000 were collected for all and sundry offenses.
