Visiting Rotarians and Rotaract Members

SAA Martin Smyth
SAA Martin called the meeting to order at 1.00pm.

President Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
President Karl-Heinz welcomed all Rotarians noting that many members were still celebrating the Hand-Over dinner last Saturday night.

PP Martin Smyth
PP Martin announced details of the Rotaract dinner meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, 27 June. The handover to the new slate of Rotaract officers will take place at that time, and Rotary members are encouraged to attend.

Note: There will be NO Rotary weekly lunch meeting next Thursday, 25 June.

Martin also announced that he had fiinnnaaalllllyyy located the three shelter boxes donated by our club (hooray). Fwiw, the boxes arrived in Pakistan on May 13, 2015, and will be used to assist victims of the flooding in Southern Punjab.

Mark Holland
Mark Holland, the (new) manager of the Bali National Golf Club, dropped in briefly to say hello.

Ian Cameron
Rtn. Ian announced that he had met with Mr. Holland, who had indicated that he would like our club to install a permanent Rotary plaque at the entrance to our meeting room. PP Wes was ‘volunteered’ to put this together.

Ian also remarked that Mr. Holland also suggested that our club host an inter-Rotary golf tournament annually, and he volunteered to sponsor the event.

PP Wes
PP Wes reported we sponsored six cleft palate operations. That said during a visit to Dharma Yadnya Hospital last week he learned that Yayasan had no resident patients. There seems to be more individuals and organisations sponsoring operations and together with Smile Train now doing operations in Singaraja it is becoming harder to find patients.

Wes has spoken with PP Edward Naus and suggested that we request that the remainder of our Rector Scneider funds be used for dental care for children post cleft palate operations.

Wes also reported that he had met last week with Rodney Holt to discuss progress on programs for children with hearing impairment and also the upcoming Para Games in Sanur late July. Teams from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan and Indonesia will compete in various sports..

There will be a need for interpreters to assist the foreign teams at these games and it was suggested that Rotaract may be able to help with this need.

Wes also mentioned that there will be a wheelchair rugby tournament on June 27 at the Bali Island School.

With no Guest Speaker it was time for SAA Martin and with time nearly up Martin, in his last official appearance as SAA 2014-2105 forewent fines and raffles for the day.

None. However Martin did remind past winners owing prizes not to forget to make their contributions at forthcoming meetings so that the new SAA Risto will have a full box of prizes to start the upcoming year.

A fine day with No Fines.

With business concluded President Karl thanked members for their attendance and declared the meeting closed at 2.00PM.
