ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS

SAA Risto
Former SAA Martin Smyth, called back into service, brought the meeting to order at 1.00pm.

President Dona Poskiparta
President Dona welcomed members, visiting Rotarian Ken Jarret and guest Henny Udy. Dona then announced that we have great news from our golf tournament we raised a substantial amount of funds that should be enough for all our projects this year.

Hopefully will more participation next year, getting many more sponsors and players. A BIG Thank You to everyone on the Golf committee, sponsors, players and supporters – it was a fun tournament that all the players enjoyed and a great BBQ dinner and social evening. Click for some photos.

Dona then showed a photo slide show from our golf tournament, which btw, was covered by and shown on Bali TV. Also, Dona and PDG Panudiana Kuhn were interviewed briefly by Seputar Bali News. And there will be a copy of the CD from Bali TV, which should be finished tomorrow, Friday.

Dona then circulated the microphone for more comments and news.

Axel Kneip
Axel Kneip announced that he will be absent until July, as he is going to Germany for some medical checkups.

Guest Henny Udy
Henny apologized for being unable to help with tournament-related arrangements; she had family visiting at the time. She promised to be available next year to help.

Don Butera
Don apologized for his absence from the tournament; he would have loved to play but came down with dengue fever and was bedridden the whole week. But he reported to be fine and glad to get out and join today’s lunch.

PP Karl-Heinz
Karl-Heinz reported briefly on the Community Services Committee’s current activities:

  • The Suryani Institute has been asked to report on the first half-year of their project. They will have a photo session on April 26, and Dona will represent our club.
  • Ari’s video has gone through its third edit, and it will be shown in rough form at the next meeting of the Community Services Committee.
  • Twenty-five children who are the recipients of HIV/AIDS scholarships will have their biodata files completed soon.

President Dona
Dona reported that prior to today’s weekly lunch meeting there was a RCBND Board meeting and reviewed the major business discussed.

  • We have a new banner, which is almost complete but needs some minor editing. It is printed on canvas, rather than plastic, like the old banner.
  • We also have membership cards, which have just arrived, for all members, with our names and identification numbers. They will be distributed today.
  • There are some tee-shirts left over from our most recent tournament and some from earlier tournaments, which are available for sale, with matching caps.
  • The District Conference will be held in Surabaya from May 13 through 15; Dona, PG Kuhn, and Adjis Budidjaja will represent our club, and Dona said that if others are interested, they can also attend. Dona reminded us about the importance of TRF contributions, which are essential for future global grants.
  • The board today voted to transfer the office of treasurer from Dewa Gunadi to Adjis Budidjaja, effective immediately.
  • Finally, we are sending one member of Rotaract to RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)

Visiting Rotarian Ken Jarret
Rtn Ken (above photo), visiting from RC Largs, Scotland told us about his club and exchanged banners with Presiddent Dona. The Largs banner shows a monument from the city of Largs, which is on the coast, commemorating battles with Vikings invaders some one thousand years ago. Whilst there are records of the battles, the Vikings eventually called off their efforts to establish themselves in Scotland. Among other activities, the club has put on charity dinners to help individuals suffering from conditions such as pancreatic cancer and from loss of limbs.

Sergeant at Arms
After Gary’s presentation, it was time for the return of SAA Martin and the weekly raffle.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 410,000.- were sold. The prize, a bottle of fine red wine, was won by Martin Smyth. Wait! What? Martin takes over the SAA duties for just one week and wins?!? Hmm… Martin and past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at forthcoming meetings.

Fines
Fines are back! Fines of IDR 100,000.- were levied for all and sundry offences.

President Dona thank everyone for joining today and the meeting was adjourned at 2:15PM.
