Artificial Legs for YPAC Students

Artificial Legs for YPAC Students

On 20 May members and friends of RC Bali Nusa Dua joined together to visit Puspadi Bali to witness the final fitting of artificial legs for two YPAC students. YPAC, Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat Bali (Institute for Physically and Mentally Handicapped Children), is located in Jimbaran Bali.

In total RC Bali Nusa Dua is providing artificial legs (two each) for two students as well as leg braces and caliper splints for an additional seven students. Fwiw, RC Bali Nusa Dua has been working with Puspadi Bali (formerly Yakkum Indonesia) since 1993 helping physically handicapped children with vocational training and support.

Although both students had been given prosthetic legs before, the prostheses were never fitted correctly and therefore never used. So to write that it was a joyous sight seeing the students to stand and take their first steps is an understatement.

Photo above is of the physiotherapist from Puspadi Bali fitting the supporting inserts for the artificial legs needed by one of student from YPAC Bali. More photos of the day can be viewed at RC Bali Nusa Dua on Instagram and scrolling forward.

Thank you.
