Visiting Rtn. Vonny Thorley, President RC Bali Taman
President Vonny (above photo, left) informed that RC Bali Taman will celebrate its founding 25 years ago at their Silver Anniversary Gala Dinner at Sanur Paradise Prime Plaza Hotel on Saturday, 10 September 2016. RC Bali Taman is in the process of issuing a memory book in which all projects of the last 25 years will be presented. Among others, all Bali Rotary Clubs are invited to participate in the funding of the memory book by advertising either on a quarter, half or full page.

(Note: The Board approved the sponsoring of a quarter page for IDR 500,000.)

Ms. Nyoman Surtikanti
Susy (above photo, right) mentioned she is considering joining the (almost) ladies only RC Bali Taman – or maybe RC Bali Nusa Dua… ;-)

PP Edward Naus
Edward had plumbing issues so that he could not attend last week’s Community Service Committee and lunch meeting. Nevertheless he is approaching the Ottobock corporation on the issue of artificial limps for a boy without arms and legs.

Guests David and Christine Velde
David and Christine mentioned that they went ‘jalan-jalan’ to see other islands of Indonesia and are just back from that trip.

Rtn. Hugh Brown
Hugh Brown came back to last week Community Service Committee meeting in which he was asked to clarify a couple of points regarding the proposed scholarship program by Bali Children Foundation.

  • Direct funding to selected children by name is possible and desirable.
  • The Australian RC, Boxhill have recently donated already AUS 1,200 and will continue to donate through the enrolment time of the students.
  • There would be no problem in receiving financial reports from BCF on the use of donated funds.

As such he hoped the proposed project could be progressed even with the Vocational Service Chair vacant and him away for next six weeks or so.

He then spoke for his wife, Henny. Henny, as Fund Raising Chair, has established two areas of focus, namely five star rated hotels and major private businesses (like Hardy’s) in the larger Nusa Dua area. The approach should be made professionally. Donors and sponsors need to receive recognition. Receiving donations requires to have good and worthy projects and comes along with reporting obligations.

Rtn. Jose Luis Calle
Jose received from the hands of President Dona pin and certificate from TRF of RI naming him a Paul Harris Fellow.

Then being the last meeting of the month it was time to celebrate with those having birthdays in the month of August: Klaus, PP Martin S. and Ian (in absentia) with a birthday that was enjoyed by all.

With lunch over, Jose duly recognised as a Paul Harris Fellow and birthday cake being served it was time for Acting SAA Risto to take the floor.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 570,000.- were sold. A nice bottle of white wine was one by PP Gary. Gary as well other past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at forthcoming meetings.
