PP Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
PP Karl-Heinz informed that after some changes and an addition the Board approved the minutes of the last Board meeting

PP Wes
PP Wes reported that he attended the weekly meeting of RC Bali Seminyak yesterday to hear and see a presentation by Dr. Walter Flapper of the Australian Craniofacial Unit in Adelaide SA where he has worked with Professor Dr. David David. Dr. Flapper travels to Indonesia regularly to teach local surgeons about the management of often challenging craniofacial conditions.

It was interesting to learn that the ratio of children borne with craniofacial conditions in Indonesia is 1/600 while in Australia it is somewhat less. However in Australia craniofacial defect are usually detected before a child is borne. A protocol for treatment is developed and operations are planned in advance and conducted at the earliest. Follow up operations are scheduled thus doctors build often decade long relationships with the children and parents. This being also rewarding for the doctors.

Also of note Australian Aid Organizations sponsor up to 15 people a year to obtain free medical treatment in the country. Presently a patient from Lombok is being brought to Adelaide. With that in mind PP Wes mentioned the case of the boy with no arms and legs with Dr. Flapper who is of the opinion that very little that can be done to help the boy.

With regard to our Cleft Lip and Palate project Wes reported 8 operations conducted in August, 6 patients through Kolewa and a further 2 patients through Yayasan Senyum. Kolewa publishes all cases in social media and gives credit to RCBND. He expects 10, perhaps 12 operations will be performed in September.

Rtn. Ari Murti
Ari spoke of child prostitution involving especially boys, sometimes as young as 10. She is contemplation to create a documentary to be shown in schools and orphanages as a counter measure.

Karl-Heinz advised her to present this idea at the next Community Service Committee meeting.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 500,000.- were sold. The ticket price is now IDR 25,000. PP Martin S. won (again!) a beautiful wooden bowl. Martin, as well other past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at forthcoming meetings.

Fines
IDR 70,000.- in fines were levied for all and sundry offenses – especially not reading this site and knowing that the club now has a YouTube channel.
