President Dona Poskiparta
President Dona welcomed the members, visiting Rotarians and guests. Provided no objections being raised from members Christine and David would become members of our Club within 2 days from now.

She informed the members about the President/Secretary meeting followed by the District Conference Organizing meeting both held on 26 August 2016 attended by Adjis, Risto and herself. The role of RC Bali Nusa Dua in this organizing committee is the organization of the golf tournament which will take place after the District Conference on 7 May 2017. She encouraged all to register and participate in the District Conference jointly held by District 3420 and 3410 at Sanur Paradise Hotel, Sanur, Bali. The registration fee is now IDR 1,400,000.

President Dona then circulated the microphone for member updates and comments.

PP Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
PP Karl-Heinz informed about two decisions the Board had taken in its meeting on 25 August 2016.

  • A revision to the Rotary Club Standard Constitution requires that Board minutes are made available to the members within 60 days of the meeting. Minutes to be made available need to have been reviewed and approved by the Board which usually takes place at the next Board meeting. Members who wish to see the Board minutes may contact the Club Secretary who will give them the opportunity to view them.
  • To release Priti from her duties as New Generations Chairperson and appoint Gary to this position. Priti has been informed about this decision.

PP Karl-Heinz further informed about a relaxation of Make Up rules from Rotary International allowing to count work in service projects or social events as meeting Make Ups. He asked members to report such Make Ups to him.

He also asked members when replying to the lunch invitation with a “regret” to copy such mail to him.

Finally PP Karl-Heinz announced that next week on 8 September a meeting will be held involving those concerned with Club Administration. The participants will be PP Wes, Martin S., Mirella and himself. The meeting is to be chaired by President Dona.

Rtn. Axel Kneip
On the background that the Board wanting to invite a speaker on TRF and the mechanism of fund flow back, Axel, as TRF Chair, gave a brief outline about what The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is all about.

  • Through the SHARE system, contributions to The Rotary Foundation are transformed into grants that fund local and international humanitarian projects, scholarships, and activities, such as vocational training teams. At the end of every Rotary year, contributions directed to the Annual Fund-SHARE from all Rotary clubs in the district are divided 50.50 between the World Fund and the District Designated Fund.
  • At the end of three years, the district can use the DDF to pay for Foundation, club, and district projects that your club and others in the district choose. Contrary to other countries, where the district allocates the funds to grants in Indonesia the DDF is returned to the donors’ club’s global and district grants.
  • In a Global Grant, The Rotary Foundation matches so called cash contributions from the participating clubs with 50%, District Designated Funds (DDF) from the districts with 100%.
  • Axel said he was not sure of the time limit a Club has to obtain funds from the DDF.

Guest, Christine Velde
Christine Velde is looking forward to becoming a member and wants to explore where and how she can contribute best to the success of this Club. One of the areas could be fund raising. David has successfully raised fund for the Red Cross and gladly would like to share his experience in this field.

PP Prima Dewi, RC Bandung Braga Metropolitan
PP Prima (above photo, left) explained that her coming today had to do with a conference on Risk Management to take place in Bali in early December. Within the framework of this conference a charity golf tournament is to be held at Bali National which shall be used as a fund raiser for her club.

Guest Silvy Valentica
Silvy added that it will be the second time such tournament will be held in conjunction with a conference.

Rtn. Ari Murti
Ari said an important element in the fight against HIV is enlightenment. Last Rotary Year HIV enlightenment sessions were given to 2,000 participants, mostly young adults. This year so far approximately 700 student had been addressed already and she expects to surpass the numbers of last year.

She suggested to approach all Rotary Clubs of Bali to identify groups of people to which HIV enlightenment can be extended. The minimum number would be 50 participants. Either she or another qualified counselor would speak to the audience.

Rtn. Adjis Budidjaya
Treasurer Adjis reminded everybody to pay the annual dues and to contribute to TRF.

President Dona
Dona informed that PP Wes had invited Ms. Linda Savati as Guest Speaker on 8 September from the Anika Linden Centre (ALC) PP Wes elaborated on how the ALC was founded and the work it is doing today.
