ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS

SAA Mirella Neumann
SAA Mirella brought the meeting to order at 1.00pm.

President Dona Poskiparta
President Dona welcomed the District Governor (DG) and her team, members and visitors. She informed that prior to this luncheon the DG’s team and the Board had a fruitful meeting. Among others the Club is requested to review the Club goals and revise them upwards.

The Club has now a guest book which will serve as a record of visitors and guests. She also reminded to pay the annual membership dues.

On 10 October the Rotaractors of RC Bali Nusa Dua will celebrate their 10th anniversary at hers and Risto’s house. There will be a barbecue style dinner. She encouraged all members to join.

President Dona then passed the microphone for comments and news.

District Governor Nyoman Nilawati
District Governor Nyoman Nilawati stated the she and her team are happy to join the lunch meeting today. She hoped that the Club can add many new members this Rotary Year for the good of the Club and TRF, the latter celebrating its centennial this year.

She asked the Club to contribute to Polio Plus.

PP Edward Naus
PP Edward has been contacted by Gerrit van Veen, President of RC Bali Canggu reminding of the fellowship evening at Taman Bhagawan, Tanjung Benoa this Saturday 11 October at the occasion of visiting Rotarians from India.

Rtn. Christine Velde
Christine and David will go back to Australia to sell their house and hope to be back soon. Both visited Pusbadi on 3 October meeting with Pak Latra. They intend to contribute with educational know-how and other ways to the Bungaya library project.

When returning Christine will bring a few exemplars of her book “Dragonfly” as Raffle prizes. The book is a tale about prominent expatriates in Indonesia.

Rotaractors Raditya and Agus
Raditya and Agus spoke about their signature project “Go to School Project”.

Rtn. Mark Holland
Mark informed that unfortunately the VIP and Conference rooms are not available next Thursday, 13 October due to hosting the “Bali Classic” tournament and that so far he has not found an alternative venue.

Bali National is holding tournaments on 4 and 5 November to celebrate its second re-opening anniversary. He proposed to let Rotaract use the tournament for fund raising as was done last year. In absence of Gary, Chair New Generation, Karl-Heinz is to be contacted for arrangements between Rotaract and Bali National.

PP Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
PP Karl-Heinz gave details about the meeting of District Governor and team with the Board which took place before this luncheon. We learned:

  • The District 3420 comprised 56 clubs with 20 from Bali of which however three are non-active.
  • DG Ibu Nilawati has suggested to explore the possibility of cooperation with RC Mataram, Lombok with regard to CLP operations.
  • The Club is asked to add new members especially below the age of 40. One possibility would be to sponsor fully or partially the membership of Rotaract members who may be members in both Clubs.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) need to be signed by the Club to be eligible for Global Grants.
  • We were reminded to keep the member register updated including the age of members.
  • DG Ibu Nilawati encouraged to join in an action group or fellowship group.
  • The Presidential Citation Form has to be filled and submitted by April 2017.
  • The Polio Plus target is USD 2,300.
  • All members are asked to attend the District Conference in May held in Sanur. The registration fee is now IDR 1,600,000.
  • DG Ibu Nilawati has suggested to form already now a committee for organizing the 25 anniversary of RCBND.
  • On the occasion of the TRF centennial all Bali Clubs are requested to organize a joint festivity on 12 November 2016. It is expected that the Club Presidents take the initiative to organize this event.

Guest Speaker
Then AG Patrick formally introduced DG Ibu Nyoman Nilawati. Ibu Nilawati is a member of RC Bali Taman. In this club she has filled many positions including President and Assistant District Governor. Beside in Rotary she is active in many other social organizations. She has received various awards for her social engagement.

Ibu Nilawati then spoke to the floor. First she played a video with the speech by current RI President John Germ “Rotary Serving Humanity”.

She continued to present the “Presidential Citation” and pointed out what has to be achieved to qualify. She encouraged the Club to make an all-out effort to be become eligible for this award. The individual requirements are shown in the attachment to this bulletin.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 850,000.- were sold. The ticket price is now IDR 25,000. PP Martin S. won (again!) a beautiful wooden bowl. Martin, as well other past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at forthcoming meetings.

President Dona thanked everyone for joining today and the meeting was adjourned at 2:30PM.
