ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS

Acting SAA Martin Smyth
Acting SAA Martin rang the bell to bring the meeting to order at 1.00pm.

President Dona Poskiparta
President Dona welcomed members and guests. She informed that the Board and Service Chairs met prior to this luncheon. Secretary Karl-Heinz and the individual Service Chairs will provide the floor with an update once the microphone once reaches them.

President Dona also announced that Rtns. Henny and Hugh have volunteered to host a fellowship evening at their house on the Bukit in March.

Then the microphone was circulated for news and updates.

PP Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
Secretary and PP Karl-Heinz briefed the floor about the earlier Board meeting:

  • The minutes of the two previous Board meetings were reviewed and approved.
  • The Board received an alert from the Charity Golf Tournament Organising Committee that so far no name or eagle sponsor could be found. Fund raising might be short of expectations.
  • A presentation about Club Membership by Past District Governor Hanny Harianto and District Administration Director Julia Rivai is being arranged.
  • The Board received an update from the Secretary on attendance for the first six months of the Rotary Year. The average attendance is 43 % including make ups and well attended events like Board hand over and Christmas party.
  • The financial statements for November 2016, December 2016 and January 2017 were approved.
  • The net proceeds from Raffles and auction at the Christmas Dinner amount to IDR 12.300.000 which are earmarked for the Clubs Polio Plus commitment of USD 2,300.
  • The Board confirmed earlier decisions by email:
1.Earthquake donation for Aceh IDR 5,000,000
2.District Conference Club program advertisement IDR 2,500,000.-
3.Contribute IDR 10,000,000 to Suryani Institute from Club funds

  • Due to limited Club funds and with immediate needs being already covered the Board decided not to make a donation towards disaster relief for Kintamani. The region had been adversely affected by heavy rains and landslides.
  • Expenses such as guest speaker lunch, birthday cakes, printing, pins, badges, bank charges, raffles prizes for visitors, support for Rotaract, advertising/promotion, etc. are largely covered by income from Raffles ticket sales, fines and donations.
  • In future these expenses shall be rather covered by member dues.

  • President Dona will shortly present a proposal of how to raise funds via social media and/or a fundraising web platform.
  • As Community Service Chair and acting Vocational Service Chair Karl-Heinz informed that after receipt of outstanding information there is now green light to transfer DR 15,000,000 and IDR 10,800,000 to Kerti Praja for clinic supplies and breast milk substitutes respectively.
  • Also to be transferred are IDR 35,000,000 to Suryani Institute.
  • Otherwise all projects are running routinely.

Guest Aini Ismi
Ismi reiterated her offer from last week to help the Club with know-how in web based fund raising and through social media.

Rtn. Ari Murti
Rtn. Ari came back to her suggestion to prepare a leaflet/bulletin with the Club’s project intended for visitors and guests. In response Wes stated that he rather put it on the Club’s web page than have it in printed form. He received already from Hugh the project summary prepared as attachment to golf tournament sponsor letters. President Dona agreed to help with the leaflet.

Rtn. Henny Udy
Rtn. Henny reported that the fund raising committee together with tournament organising committee are now fully focused on the fund raising for the Charity Golf Tournament. Henny further informed that she will be away from 17 February until 10 March.

Rtn. Axel Kneip
Rtn. Axel had received news that our fellow Rotarian Reinhold Jantzen fell and fractured his shoulder blade in multiple places. He was flown to Perth for treatment. All members present wished him well and a speedy recovery.

PP Wes
PP Wes updated the members on several potential member candidates that have been identified.

PP Martin Smyth
Martin with President Dona are working on a guest speaker roster until end of this Rotary Year.

GUEST SPEAKER
Aimi Ismi
Aini introduced once more Yayasan Lokal Rute Indonesia and spoke about the concept of Geotourism Indonesia. Geotourism is a form of tourism that magnifies qualities which make an area unique.Geotourism is a development program that brings together a wide variety of stakeholder groups to appreciate, celebrate, and invigorate the unique features of each region. Geotourism programs focus on the unique culture, heritage, nature, and people of each place.

Tourist are encouraged to participate to purchase an Honorary Tourist Membership.
The fees for the membership support regional program activities, including the creation and maintenance of regional tourism maps. Geotourism map guides for each program will reveal a wide variety of unique and interesting locations and activities that are not found anywhere else.
Yayasan Lokal Rute Indonesia asked RC Bali Nusa for assistance in improving the concept structure.

On behalf of the members President Dona thanked Aini for her presentation and handed the floor over to acting SAA Martin Smyth.

Raffles tickets in the amount of IDR 450.000 were sold and IDR 20,000 fines levied.
