ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS

Acting SAA Risto
Acting SAA PP Risto, rang the bell together to bring the meeting to order at 1.00pm.

President Dona Poskiparta
President Dona welcomed the members and our frequent guest and good friend, Wim from RC Zwartewatersteden.

President Dona then extended a special welcome to Christine and David who are back to Bali now (for good) after selling their home in Australia. She thanked David for bringing an excellent bottle of Rose wine and Christine for donating two of her books, Shanghai Rumors and Dragonflyers as raffle prizes. Welcome Back! :-)

Dona continued by informing that so far 10 players have registered for the District Conference Golf tournament on 7 May. She expects that eventually 20 players will participate.

However for our 17th Annual Rotary Club Bali Nusa Golf Tournament on 15 April she expects well above hundred players joining.

To the end Dona reported that tomorrow, 10 March, a first meeting with Peter Jones of Liquid Communications is to be held on the subject of fundraising through social media. The contact had been made through PP Michael Burchett. Should be very interesting and everyone is looking forward to meeting and learning from Peter.

With the meeting taking place in the conference room (as opposed to the meeting room Dona then circled a “virtual” microphone.

PP Gary Phair
Gary has been in communication with Rtn. Henk Pleijsier of RC Zwartewatersteden regarding the scholarship program of 25 HIV+ children. RC Zwartewatersteden has donated EUR 5,000 and Henk is piloting the project.

Rtn. Henk informed Gary that RC Zwartewatersteden will donate USD 4,000 to help funding the project for further 3 years. Henk is expected to visit our club in April. Gary regretted he will miss Henk’s visit as he will be away to the Philippines at that time.

Rtn David Lang
David mentioned that he is happy to be back to Bali. It was a physically and mentally difficult process of selling their house and parting with many things that had been in their possession for so many years.

Rtn. Christine Velde
Christine brought and handed over two of her books, Shanghai Rumors, a tale of her time in China and beyond and Dragonflyers, stories of prominent expatriates in Indonesia. The book, Shanghai Rumors, was launched at the Frankfurt Book Fair recently.

Christine agreed to help with the flyers/bulletin President Dona is in the process of putting together.

Rtn. Axel Kneip
The final report for our present CLP Global Grant (GG) is almost ready. Also the situation regarding invoices should not pose an obstacle for a timely submission of the final report.

Still he had approached The Rotary Foundation inquiring about the possibility of an extension. He learnt that Cathleen Evan of RF is no longer in charge of our GG. Her replacement, contacted on 22 February, had not replied so far.

Axel will be leaving (and be on leave) in April for Germany. With regard to the new CLP GG he will visit a Rotary Club south of Amsterdam to present the new CLP project.

He reminded that for obtaining a GG a Club MOU needs to be signed and that members of the GG team need to attend a GG seminar.

The late signing of the Club MOU contributed to the delay in obtaining the last GG.

PP Risto Poskiparta
The Flyer for our Charity Golf tournament is ready to go out. We will start now approaching potential players.

He gave a detailed update regarding sponsorship. So far IDR 66,000,000 have been committed.

PDG Panudiana Kuhn
With regard to fund raising for the Charity Golf Tournament PDG Kuhn reported various changes in management of Bank Mandiri.

He regretted to have to inform that neither Bank Mandiri nor BCA will not be able to sponsor this time.

Visiting Rtn. Visitor Wim van Rijswijk
This time Wim will be in Bali for 5 weeks and he would like to join our luncheon one or the other week.

His Club has committed considerable funds to a street children Global Grant project in South Africa. His Club will therefore not be able to become a partner in our new Cleft Lip and Palate Global Grant.

PP Wes
PP Wes reminded everyone that Marilyn Mansoner of YPAC will be our guest speaker next week. He hopes Yuyun, whose prosthetic legs our Club sponsored, will accompany her although the girl is very shy.

Wrt to prosthetic legs PP Wes reported that the club has an outstanding invoice from PUSPADI that is due for payment once he has seen photographic evidence that the prostatic legs have been fitted.

Furthermore PP Wes stated that he visited Dharma Yadnya Hospital yesterday. He reported that there 19 patients operated on, 15 single opertions and 4 double operations totaling some IDR 115,000,000.- Once these invoices are paid, the entire Global Grant funds will then be exhausted.

Going forward the club has committed to sponsoring three operations per month through October with club funds. Hopefully our new Global Grant proposal will be met with favourable approval prior to October.

Finally, Kolewa will come to our Club with their medi-car after Hari Raya Nyepi. Also RC Bali Seminyak, which joins with us in sponsoring the medi-car, will be invited and are expected to show up with with a large contingent of members.

GUEST SPEAKER
No Guest Speaker today

After an enjoyable lunch Acting SAA Risto took over the proceedings. Risto announced that his virtual prize that he won last week has materialised into one of the books donated by Christine.

Raffle
Raffle tickets of IDR 650,000 were sold with a ‘virtual’ prize won by Visiting Rotarian Wim. Wim and other past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at forthcoming meetings.
