Rtn David Lang
David announced that Christine and he have now relocated to Bali and will be here for good.

Rtn. Christine Velde
Rtn Christine Velde mentioned that she could imagine speaking about her life overseas.

Visiting Rtn. Wim van Rijswijk
Wim once again thanked the Club for the worm welcome. As he will be in Bali for 5 weeks we might see him again soon.

PP Edward Naus
PP Edward thanked Wim, Henk and the entire RC Zwartewatersteden for donating USD 4,000 which will largely cover the cost of the joint scholarship project for further 3 years.

The celebration of our 25th Club anniversary shall become a big event and potentially the club’s biggest fundraiser ever.

Rtn. Urs Klee
Urs presented a fund raising idea proposing reallocation of Paul Harris points between members with excess and lacking donations. The excess donations are “sold” at a discounted value. The money is donated to the Club.

PP Gary Phair
PP Gary also he thanked Wim and RC Zwartewatersteden for making another generous donation which will largely cover the cost for a total 6 years of scholarship.

Gary later presented the Club’s Facebook page which he administers. Dona thanked Gary and his untiring efforts in creating and maintaining our web site and presentation on social media.

PP Wes
PP Wes gave a special welcome to the YPAC children Yuyun, Irfan and Aziz. We have known Yuyung for some 15 years and it a special treat to welcome her to our weekly luncheon.

Wes then spoke about Rtn. Don’s daughter who had given birth to a baby girl a week ago Friday in Siloam Hospital, Bali. It turned out the baby was born with a rare and serious heart condition, transposition of the great arteries. The baby was medivacked to Singapore for treatment and underwent one surgery, a second is scheduled for sometime next week.

Of course all this is hugely expensive and Don’s daughter does not haven enough insurance for this. Who feels like helping there are two options; either via GoFundMe (a campaign has been set up, here is the link) or by transfer to Bank BCA (see PP Wes for account details). However he advised that GoFundMe takes 7.9% of any contribution.

Vistors Aziz, Yuyun and Irfan
The children said hello and thanked for the Club for its help. Yuyun spoke in VERY good English, the boys in Bahasa Indonesia while they enjoyed their lunch.

PDG Kuhn
He will meet with Bank Mandiri tomorrow regarding sponsorship of our golf tournament. Regretfully there is a “no” from BCA.

Rtn. Axel Kneip
The final report for our present CLP Global Grant is almost ready. Including interest, about USD 90,000 has been spent on CLP operations and supporting activities.

With regard to the new CLP GG we are in contact with 6 international partners.

Guest Pak Putu
He thanked Pak Adjis for inviting him and Pak Diko. He is hopeful that OCBC will be able to contribute to the golf tournament in one way or the other.

PE Adjis Budidjaja
He thanked Pak Putu and Diko of OCBC for coming here today. He is happy that Edward agreed to chair the committee preparing the 25th Anniversary party.

GUEST SPEAKER
Marilyn Mansoner, Director YPAC

Marilyn Mansoner of YPAC, Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat Bali, the institute for Physically and Mentally handicapped children on Bali, thanked the Club for its donations also on behalf of the children Yuyun, Irfan and Aziz.

Marilyn then presented an overview of YPAC and it’s goals. The aim of YPAC is to give mentally and physically handicapped children a sense of self-esteem and provide them with life skills to enable them to assimilate within their own communities and families.

A number of volunteers, including herself, provide valuable help doing such things as singing, dancing, painting and engaging the children in games and other activities.

YPAC is not an orphanage but a school for handicapped children. There are presently 13 teachers and staff taking care of 55 children of which 17 are residents.

The age of the children reaches from 5 to 22. Teaching is from Monday to Saturday from 8.00 to 11.30.

Growing children with artificial limps need to have replacements from time to time and there are many other running cost. Though there is some government funding, donations are gratefully accepted. For children requiring artificial limps YPAC works closely with PUSPADI BALI.

For more information on YPAC, please visit: YPAC’s website
