ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS

SAA Martin Smyth
SAA Martin rang the bell and called the meeting to order at 1.00pm.

Acting President Eddie Fitzgerald
Vice-President Eddie again chaired the meeting while President Edward is away to The Netherlands. VP Eddie advised members who were taking up PHF Recognition Points that they should complete and submit their application forms asap, so that they could get the Pins returned in time for a group presentation on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner.

PP Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
PP Karl in his role as Treasurer was pleased to note that the take-up of available Paul Harris Fellowship recognition points has now risen to 79%, and he urged the few members who had not yet done so to take advantage of the offer.

Rtn. Masaharu Yukimoto
Rtn Yuki advised the meeting that he and his friend Rtn Jerry from RC Seminyak had very much enjoyed their lunch on Sunday 29 Oct with the students from SMKN 1, and had found them a very impressive group of young people. Some students gave presentations about what the scholarships meant to them, and these were very moving. He also reported that he had attended the signing ceremony for MOUs being prepared by our medical service providers for the new Global Grant application.

Rtn. Henny Udy Brown
Rtn Henny Udy advised the meeting that Manuela from Rotaract Club Hong Kong would visit Bali on Sunday 19th Nov, and that students from SMKN 1 would participate in her “event”. More details closer to the time.

PP Wes
PP Wes noted that Grand Hyatt Bali would again organise the Annual Orphanage Christmas Party. This year’s event will mark a milestone, the 25th anniversary of the best Christmas Party on Bali.

That said a few things to keep in mind:

    1. Date to be advised;

    2. Goody bags need to be budgeted and ordered;

    3. Members planning to invite children need to begin preparations. PP Wes expects that invitiations will be handled same as in past years, i.e. all members will be given the opportunity to invite 10 children on a first come, first served basis.

Rtn. Ari Murti
Rtn Ari advised the meeting that she had heard about new regulations regarding registration of hand-phones and sim cards, and strongly recommended that everybody follow this up.

Rtn. Debra Levy
Rtn Debra advised that the annual BIWA Christmas Bazaar would be held this coming (5 November) Sunday morning at Lotte parking lot. It’s a good time with lots of friends and she recommended that members should attend.

Rtn. Hugh Brown
Secretary Hugh advised the meeting that there would be a Board Meeting next week, to which Committee Chairs would be asked to make summary presentations, starting from 11.30am. He also noted that the DG would attend the Lunch Meeting on23rd Nov, after attending a short Board Meeting in the morning. And finally he noted that there also needed to be a Club Assembly (perhaps early December) to nominate the Board for RY 2018-19.

PP Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
Treasurer Karl gave a brief summary of the status of preparations for Global Grant, noting that MOU’s have now been signed, and final details are being completed. One issue we might encounter is that of more money being donated at the end of November. We won’t know the amount until we are notified. This would delay completion (and hopefully the approval) of the application and in turn we would have to provide more funds for bridging operations until approval is awarded. As well, a larger Grant takes longer to assess and has more stringent requirements for program administration.

Raffle
Raffle tickets of IDR 550,000 were sold and Rtn. Debra Lucky won again! This time Debra will take home a beautiful porcelain flowers holder donated by Henny. Debra and other past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at forthcoming meetings.

Fines
A fine of IDR 10,000.- was levied for the Acting President’s tardy arrival.

There being no other business President Edward thanked everyone for joining today. The bell was rung and the meeting adjourned at 2:10p.m.
