ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS

SAA Martin Smyth
SAA Martin rang the bell calling the Meeting to order at 1.00pm.

President Edward Naus
President Edward welcomed Members, guests from Rotary Clubs Bali Seminyak and Canggu, and the Secretary, returning after a 3-week absence.

Visiting Rtn. Sally Bellmaine
Rtn Sally Bellmaine from Seminyak advised that a donation from the RCBND Secretary had enabled them to complete the small project of completing a house and chicken farm facility in Karangasem, ad expressed gratitude for the assistance.

PP Wes
PP Wes advised that he and PP Karl-Heinz had attended the PETS 2-day meeting which had been held at the Nusa Pujian Conference Centre. He circulated a BCA Flazz Card which acts as electronic cash and was presented as a Rotary card, which was being sold as a fund raising project by a RC Surabaya at the PETS meeting. He purchased for IDR 150,000.- which included IDR 20,000 cash balance that could be used as money or Jl. Toll Rd. payment. He suggested that this might be a useful present to be given by RCBND to visiting local speakers and other dignitaries.

PP Risto Poskiparta
PP Risto advised that he had had little success in pinning RS Prima Medika down to a meeting date to discuss performance issues previously reported.

PP Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
PP Karl-Heinz in his role as Treasurer commented that the PETS meeting had been of a high standard. He expressed admiration for the quality of a video presentation, which had been prepared by a member of RC Denpasar, and recommended that consideration be given to employing this person for any future video presentations planned for RCBND.

In relation to the CLPP, PP Karl noted that the current age limitation on patients allowed to be included in the program might need to be changed, to take account of the different age distributions of potential patients in Eastern Indonesia from that in Bali, for which this limitation had been devised.

Lastly in his capacity as the incoming Chair of the newly-formed Golf Tournament Committee, K-H advised the meeting that this would be held on 1st September, and the Committee would have its first meeting this afternoon (8th March).

Rtn. Hugh Brown
Secretary Hugh provided a brief overview of preparations for the 25th Anniversary event on 21st April. He noted:

  • Uluwatu Lace had agreed to participate in the Program, by providing a fashion show featuring their newest creation “Waterlily Crown”, and a dress to be auctioned;
  • All major groups in the Bali community were being contacted, and the event promoted/marketed to members – groups contacted so far include Bali Rotarians, BIWA, SKAL, Raffles and Bali National. Other groups will be added when information becomes available.
  • A Social Media campaign has been developed and is being launched this week and next, targeting Facebook and Instagram users in the Denpasar, Nusa Dua, Sanur areas, as well as the contact lists of other groups involved in charitable activities. This will emphasise the excellent range of Raffle and Auction Prizes that are available.

With discussion over and a very enjoyable meal finished, PP Martin donned the SAA sash and drew the raffle…

Raffle
Raffle tickets of IDR 450,000 were sold and a lovely bottle of Cape Discovery wine was won PP Eddie Fitzgerald. Congratulations Eddie! Now Eddie and other past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at forthcoming meetings.
