Mr. David Bertrand, founder of Vivid Kalimantan
An educator and tutor, David founded Vivid Kalimantan in West Kalimantan as a rain forest conservation project one and a half years ago.

  • The focus is to help the Dayak community maintain their identity but still evolve lest the community and its culture will die out;
  • The Indonesian government has given villagers legal ownership over some 5.5 hectares of land on West Kalimantan. In turn Vivid Kalimantan has contractual control some 55,000 are of the land;
  • With no opportunities for economic advancement community can only survive with traditional methods but young generation don’t want to stay in the villages and subsistence farming;
  • A young person who grows up in the village moves away may return occasionally but their children do not because the children do not have any ties or cultural affinity for the village.
  • Currently land is being bought (sold) for 1USD/100 meters by palm oil plantations.

Vivid Kalimantan is offering interested individuals an opportunity to help the Dayak community not only maintain their land and culture but also preserve the rain forest via:

    10 US$ = 1 are (100m2) of rainforest for 25 years*

    iG Center for Education, Culture and Sports

    socially and environmentally conscious urban development and entrepreneurship focusing on self sustaining businesses – not solely based on tourism.

As of this writing VividKalimantan has 290 sponsors protecting 753 are of 5,500,000 total are available. Fwiw, sponsoring 20 ares (200 US$) offsets your carbon footprint for 25 years.
