SAA Edward Naus
SAA Edward rang the bell calling the Meeting to order at 1.00pm.

President Hugh Brown
President Hugh welcomed members and guests back ‘home’ at Bali national Golf.

President Hugh then made several important announcements:

  • Need to schedule a Club Assembly to:
    • 1. To elect President, Secretary and Board members for RY 2019-2020;
      2. Need P-E to keep Global Grant active;
      3. Able to apply for new Global Grant;
      4. Review and (hopefully) accept audit results;
      5. Vote on District Officers.

November Fellowship Evening will be a Membership Drive. Please consider who you can invite.

With that President Hugh passed the proverbial mic around for comments and updates.

PP Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
PP Karl provided a quick update on the proposed Global Grant with RC Honolulu Sunrise and District 5000. Will meet with RC Bali Kuta to go over the Community Assessment.

PP Karl also announced that our Global Grants Officer, Ms. Sadaf, will be visiting Indonesia early December to review our GG Cleft Lip and Palate Project. We will present to her the Community Assessment Form for her perusal and comment.

Visiting Rotarian Sally Bellmaine
Rtn Sally announced that on Friday 26 Oct RC Bali Seminay will host a BBQ dinner at Tijili Benoa Hotel. This will help RC Bali Ubud Sunset, joining together for a new mobile clinic for the John Fawcett Foundation.

Visiting Rotarian Mark Savage
This year’s President at RC Bali Canggu spoke about recent changes at his club. After dropping to three members at the beginning of this Rotary Year they have come back and now have ten members. The club is now back meeting at Hotel Tugu on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month at 6.00pm.

Project Lombok has received assistance from Sumba and Croatia and has a target of 60 houses with 45 already built!

Visiting Rotarian Wim Van Rijswyk
Wim from RC Zwarte Watersteden, The Netherlands passed on greetings from his club and mentioned that his club is also small with only 15 members meeting twice a month, one ‘official’ meeting and one ‘unofficial’ – a fellowship evening.

PP Edward Naus
PP Edward, as this year’s SAA, . kindly requested that members donated and bring prizes for the raffle. No prize, no raffle…

PP Gerrit Ten Veen
PP Gerrit mentioned that he has several Guest Speakers ‘on tap’ for the remainder of the year.

Gerrit reminded everyone that the next Fellowship Dinner will be next week Thursday the 25th at Nusa Dua Beach Grill. Please RSVP quickly to Gerrit (would make his organising job easier…).

Finally Gerrit shared a humorous moment when he happened to see RI President Jokowi leaving one of the venues during the IMF / World Bank meetings. Knowing that the President was a Rotarian in Solo, Gerrit shouted ‘Rotary’ while pointing to his hat. The President smiled and waved to Gerrit. :-)

PP Wes
PP Wes gave a brief overview of the Global Grant Cleft Lip and Palate Project. From 1994 through August 2018 we have paid for 1,662 operations. There are another 10 not yet paid in Septmber which would bring a gran total of 1,672 operations over the years.

That said, anyone want to track the GG progress can do so at this link…

President Hugh Brown
President Hugh went on to state that he had spoken Mark wrt the menu selection et al. and we will mostly likely be looking at increase prices for our luncheon in the near future.

On that cheery note SAA Edward asked visiting Rotarian Sally to draw the raffle and…

Raffle tickets of IDR 750,000 were sold with visiting Rotarian Wim winning a bottle of nice red wine. Congratulations Wim! Wim promised to return next week with another prize but still SAA Edward reminded other past winners still owing prizes were reminded not to forget to make their contributions at forthcoming meetings.

Also another fine Thursday afternoon with no Fines… ;-)

There being no other business President Hugh thanked everyone for joining today. The bell was rung and the meeting adjourned at 2:15p.m.
