ANNOUNCEMENTS, REPORTS
Vice President Risto Poskiparta
Vice President Risto welcomed members and guest Rtn. Robert Glozier.

VP Risto proceeded to update members on highlights of the Board meeting held prior to the lunch meeting:

• Cleft palate – 1289 operations, four of which have not yet been paid for but v=will be in the vicinity if 18 million at the new rate being charged. At this rate the matching grant will be depleted in the next couple of months.
• Sawangan Clean up project is proceeding as planned.
• The Tennis Committee is expected to meet within the next 10 days as Tournament Chairman Gary returns to Bali later in the day.
• A golf tournament update will be given by PP Bruce in the next couple of weeks.
• Bipan will head a membership committee to drive and diversify our membership.
• Details of our Club Fellowship event will be emailed around shortly. Members are requested to RSVP as additions to the guest list will not be possible once it has been submitted to the Nusa Dua Theatre.
• The clubs by-laws will be examined by the Board with a view to admitting members who spend a significant amount of time in Bali, and will contribute to our club programs, but do not have a KITAS.
• Community Corp – There is a possibility of funding from RI for projects run with community organizations. Our Sawangan cleanup project and HIV training for mid wives seems to fit the criteria, so we shall be looking into the possibility of additional funding for these projects.
• There has been a change to the EREY (Every Rotarian Every Year). To encourage participation, the expectation is no longer USD100.00 per person, but any amount that the Rotarian is able to contribute.

Guest Rotarian Robert Glozieri
Rtn. Robert introduced himself and mentioned he will be on Bali for just a week but was very happy to be here and not in the cold of the UK. He then proceeded to give the club a geography lesson concerning the whereabouts and how to get to Epping.

Ari Murti
Ari shared the information that since 2010 there has been an incredible 700% increase in reported HIV cases in Indonesia and an increase in child sex trafficking.

PP Wes Nieman
PP Wes advised how the club initially adopted the bylaw requiring members to have KITAS. Early on many people without residency status joined the club to gain legitimacy socially and professionally. As such Wes suggested caution in changing the bylaws and allowing folks without a KITAS to become members.

Also, in reviewing the website Wes announced that we receive, on average, 45 visitors a day and each visitor views six pages on each visit.

PP Jo Rosarius
PP Jo updated members on the financials that he had presented at the board meeting.

Martin Aeshlimann
Martin reported that he had been unable to follow up on the apprenticeship material as he had intended to, during his two weeks in Europe. He will arrange a Vocational Services meeting in the next 2 weeks. The last vocational services project (library books) will be finalised in the next week.

Vice President Risto Poskiparta
VP Risto welcomed members and guests and thanked Keith Bell and Nico Reschke for taking over the duties of SAA and Secretary during the absence of Martin Smyth and Priti Kapur.

The SAR report came in from Rotary International and reported 34 members and full payment for annual membership fees with RCBND being one of the few clubs which received all payments in time

Susan Stein
Susan Stein mentioned she will be away for the next 10 weeks (and was fined accordingly…) Susan then introduced her guests Jonathan Renauld and Helma Eppstein.

Jonathan Renauld, Guest
Guest Jonathan Renauld shared some information about himself. Originally from Colarado he now considers Bali home. He has been here for 11 years. He runs two businesses. The first Mata Air Bali, which makes solar water heaters and solar water purifiers. The second is production of herbal medication for the treatment of cancer.

Helma Eppstein
Guest Helma Eppstein introduced herself as the Executive Housekeeper at the Intercontinental Hotel, Jimbaran, Bali.

Jack Dalton
Guest Rtn. Jack Dalton (pictured above, right) introduced himself as Past President of RC Mildura, Victoria Australia. Himself being a childhood friend of our Rtn. Gary Phair, he appreciated the opportunity to join the lunch.

PP Michael Burchett
PP Michael announced that he will leaving the Conrad in April to start his own management company.

Michael also announced that the football jumper donated to the Club by Tony Franklin in the past was given to Edward Naus who kindly donated 3 Million IDR. The jumper will be showcased at the Sports Bar at the Peninsula Hotel with special mention of RCBND.

And as a special treat for Australia Day (today), Michael sponsored for each member a selection of Australia’s world famous Lamingtons.

PP Jo reported that there had been no cleft palate operations during the last week.

Vice President Risto Poskiparta
Vice President Risto welcomed members and DG Ridlo and his wife Roxanne. He appreciated that Marilyn had made it down from the hills of Ubud to visit our club.

VP Risto announced:

• The setting up of a membership committee to drive our membership numbers is under consideration. The board will discuss this at the next meeting and come back to the membership with more details.
  
  
• Risto and Nico as President Elect and Secretary Elect for 2012/2013 respectively will attend the PETS training in Surabaya in February.
  
  
• Members were reminded of the fellowship evening at the Nusa Dua Theatre on 22 February. An email has already been sent requesting our members to save the date! RSVP’s will be requested closer to the date.
  
  
• Our Sawangan Waste Management Pilot project was outlined explained to the DG.

PP Jo Rosarius
PP Jo reported that there had been 5 cleft palate operations last week. Other hospitals have been contacted, but none can offer a lower rate than Sanglah hospitals increased rate for operations.

PP Jo also advised that Rotary International Global Grants has been informed of the new rate being charged for operations, and it has been duly noted.

The total number of operations under the grant that commenced July 2010 now stand at 108

Ari Murti
Ari offered a detailed update on our club’s HIV projects, and also her involvement in a shelter for sex workers which provides condoms and spiritual healing for female sex workers.

PP Mercia Inkiriwang
PP Mimi updated us on the Malnutrition project. This month is the second month of its operation, 9 malnourished children in Nusa Dua are being provided with food supplements.

Susan Stein
Susan Stein introduced her guest Jonathan Renauld who lives in the Bukit.

Priti Kapur
Priti announced that the RI conference would be held in Bangkok May 6 to 9 and registrations are through member access or the RI website.

Bipan Kapur
Bipan asked VP Risto if plans for the 2012 tennis tournament were underway for May? Westin tennis courts are likely to be available this year. VP Risto advised that a meeting was planned for early February when Gary Phair returned.

Marilyn Carson RC Ubud Sunset
Marilyn introduced herself and hoped that her club could work with RCBND on projects.

Nunie Kneip
Nunie briefly mentioned the Bali Clean and Green project, and asked if DG Ridlo would like to help in spreading the project to other parts of Indonesia.

Roxanne Ridlo
Mrs Ridlo introduced herself as the wife of DG Ridlo

GUEST SPEAKER
District 3400 DG Muhammad Ridlo
The DG gave a presentation, updating all on his resume, the financial condition of Rotary Indonesia and District statistics. He applauded RCBND for being one of lead clubs in Indonesia. He has suggested the club consider establishing a RCC, and was happy to hear we had a Rotaract Club, and that our Semi annual dues had been paid!

VP Risto thanked the DG for his informative presentation and closed the meeting.

President Dave Lance
President Dave welcomed members and guests.

President Dave then proceeded with the first order of business, inducting RCBND founding member, Reinhold Jantzen, back into the club.

Ari Murti
Ari informed members that public hospitals on Bali now offer free inpatient treatment to financially disadvantaged people holding a JKMP card. She suggested that eligibility be checked when we consider financial medical aid.

Ari also announced that another mid wife training program will be run end Feb/ early March in Karangasam and she hoped some of our club members would join her for the inauguration.

PP Jo Rosarius
PP Jo reported that he, along with Dr Asmarajaya, is exploring the possibility of finding a less expensive facility than Sanglah for cleft palate operations. There is now about USD 8,000.00 left in our matching grant fund.

Risto Poskiparta
Risto shared the details of the upcoming fellowship event at the Nusa Dua Theatre. Steve Lomax has kindly invited RCBND members and spouses as well as members of Rotaract Nusa Dua to attend the Devdan Show on Wednesday, Feb 22nd, as his guests. Should members wish to bring guests, a special rate will apply. (IDR 180,000.- for Indonesians and Kitas holders, IDR 280,000.- for all others).

Nico Retshke
Nico kindly invited members to a Happy Hour of drinks at the Courtyard by Marriot Beach Club prior to the show. He will kindly provide complimentary snacks.

Details of this fellowship event will be emailed to members separately. NB: there will be no meeting on Thursday, 23 February.

PP Bruce Jellard
Bruce was given a round of applause when he announced that the final payment for the Annual Golf Tournament was transferred to RCBND yesterday. The total for this year’s tournament was another record amount.

Nunie Kneip
Nunie updated members on a couple of past programs. Cleaonie, who had had a heart operation 3 years ago was now in kindergarden, and the SLB-B student, Ayu, who had been operated on for a hole in the heart is now 12 year old and commencing high school. Both are doing very well.
