Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua’s annual Rotary Bali Charity Tennis Tournament 2012 will be held from 24th August to 1st September at the tennis courts of the the Nikko Bali Resort and Spa and Bali Tourism Development Corporation B.T.D.C. . There will be some exciting enhancements introduced to improve the tennis community’s participation in and enjoyment of the Tournament.

Again this year will see some new and exciting enhancements to improve the tennis community’s participation in and enjoyment of the Tournament. This year the Tennis Tournament will continue a return to its roots with even more members of the Bali tennis community joining the Tournament Committee. As with last year’s tournament organizers will use professional international tournament management software to ensure easy online access by players to all draws, match times and locations. Also a bigger and better auction will allows those who don’t play tennis to participate and support the community.

Sponsored by Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua, the Rotary Bali Charity Tennis Tournament was first held way back in 1991 and has been held annually ever since. Over the years the Tournament has generated some US$157,500.- with 100% of the proceeds applied to providing health and human services to the poor and disadvantaged children on Bali. This care has been mainly in the form of craniofacial surgery i.e. hare-lip and cleft palate operations together with burn treatment and surgery to correct other deformities.

SAA Ari Murti
SAA Ari called Rotarians to order at 1.00PM following 30 minutes of fellowship and gave a special welcome to our visiting and re-visiting Rotarians.

President Risto Poskiparta
President Risto gave a special welcome to our Rotaractors, President Tika and PE Agung. He noted that Agung would be our Guest Speaker today.

President Risto’s opening comments included a reference to a very lively meeting last week with our visitors and a very interesting Guest Speaker, Mr. Rus Alit from Bali Appropriate Technology Institute (photo above left).

Risto advise that he, PE Gary and PP Mimi will be attending the District Conference in Solo on 26 and 27 April 2013 and that during the Conference he will have the very great fortune and honor to receive awards on behalf of Rotarians Jo and Ari. Risto will relay the awards at next week’s meeting.

President Risto then sent the microphone off around the table for updates, reports and news.

Ari Murti
Ari advised that the award really belongs to the RCBND and thanked all for the great support of this most worthwhile and successful of programs. Ari reiterated Risto’s comments that last week’s meeting was terrific and provided an opportunity to promote our HIV Program to our visitors.

PP Jo Rosarius
PP and Treasurer Jo reported that he had met with 3 families benefiting from our Cleft Lip Program at Sanglah hospital.

PE Gary Phair
PE Gary reported on the Rotaract Seminar held the previous Sunday at The Nikko Hotel which was supported by our club and was a tremendous success. The Seminar was attended by President Sri and Rotaractor Putu, seventeen new Rotaractors, 3 Rotaractors from Canggu whose club is awaiting Charter , one representative from the RYLA committee, Rotarian Eka and Gary and President Risto.

President Risto inducted the seventeen (YES!! 17!!!) Rotaractors at the seminar. Thanks to Jean Charles and The Nikko Hotel for providing a terrific venue for the seminar.

Gary congratulated Sri on her excellent organization, administration and presentation of the seminar.

Gary forgot to mention that Rotaract presented a video at the seminar of their appearance on TVRI’s Hotspot program. This was around a twenty minute spot giving great footage and discussion of their club’s programs on this popular TV show among the young adults of Indonesia. Sri was the “bintang”. Great initiative and PR demonstrated by our Rotaractors.

PP Mercia Inkiriwang
PP Mimi mentioned the forthcoming Rotary International Conference in Lisbon from 22 to 26 June 2013 and that she was excited to be attending and representing RCBND. Mimi also advised that she was making club shirts for Risto and Gary to sport at the Solo District Conference. She also mentioned that next years’ RI Conference will be held in Sydney; literally our back yard.

PP Edward Naus
PP Edward mentioned a point for possible discussion at our forthcoming Club Assembly (2 May).

Dona Poskiparta
Dona gave brief rundown of the recent health woes of the Poskiparta family.

President Sri, Rotaract Club Nusa Dua, thanked RCBND for our support of her club’s programs and seminars.

GUEST SPEAKER
Rotaract Bali Nusa Dua PE Agung
PE Rotaract Bali Nusa Dua, Agung, aka I Gusti Ngurah Agus Kartika Putra. PE Agung gave a very impressive and well prepared presentation reporting on the recent RYLA conference that he was pleased to have attended and supported by RCBND. Agung’s power point presentation included an overview the programs undertaken at the Seminar. He also gave a very detailed presentation of the officers and program administrators of Rotararact Club Nusa Dua. Well done PE Agung.

Raffle
Tickets for IDR 680,000 were sold. The raffle prize was a fine bottle of wine which was won by Rtn. Rhonda. Past winners owing prizes are reminded not to forget to make their contributions at the forthcoming meetings.

Fines
Fines: IDR 100,000 were collected for all and sundry offenses.

President Risto thanked all our visitors and declared the meeting closed at 2.00PM
