BULLETIN JANUARY 14, 2010 (Annual General Meeting)

A New Year Launching Party took the place of the regular lunch meeting. Members and their families came together in a friendly and festive atmosphere at the OOLOOLOOS of the Nikko Resort and Spa on Thursday, 14 January 2010 at 7.00pm

Proceedings
President Martin Smyth opened the evening by welcoming the attending members and their families. He then proceeded to the formal induction of Werner Gulba and Risto Poskiparta. All welcomed them as fellow members to Rotary Club Bali Nusa Dua. Werner and Risto thanked the President of his kind words and wowed to do their share of service to the benefit of those in need.

The acting Sergeant at Arms, Edward Naus, rang the bell to officially open the buffet dinner. What a splendid buffet it was!!! Alone the presentation was mouth watering. There was a variety of fantastic food and the service was excellent. In addition the guests were entertained by an attractive lady singer and live music.

Members had donated valuable prices with the main price being: one night in a suite of the Conrad Hotel!

Raffle tickets were sold during dinner. They went like hot cakes. The Raffle draws took place after dinner. And the winners were:

Risto Poskiparta
A voucher valued IDR 500.000 for a dinner at the Pica Tapas Bar&Restaurant donated by Carlos Bamora.

Yajaira Smyth
A pretty and valuable pearl necklace donated by Priti Kapur.

Axel Kneip
Another voucher valued IDR 500.000 for a dinner at the Pica Tapas Bar&Restaurant donated by Carlos Bamora.

Georges Capt
A voucher for a complementary round of golf at New Kuta Golf Club donated by Karl-Heinz Schmelzer. And Georges, being a none golfer, put the voucher up for auction. The voucher went to Dave Lance for IDR 551.000.

Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to the generous bidder and donors! The net proceeds from ticket sales and auction were IDR 2.311.000.

The evening was concluded by the President thanking everybody having participated in the preparations of the party. Special thanks was expressed and a big hand was given to the GM of the Nikko Hotel (and Rotarian) Jean Charles Le Coz and his entire team for creating such a marvellous dinner and a festive ambience. The evening was truly enjoyable!
