President David Lance
President Dave welcomed members, visiting Rotarians and guests.

President Dave informed that the RC of Bali Seminyak is going to celebrate its 10th birthday on 19 May. Tickets are still available.

For the benefit of the visitors President Dave asked the individual project leaders to introduce their respective projects.

Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
Karl-Heinz gave a summary of the waste management project Sawangan. He informed that the Board had agreed last week to expand the project to included the neighbouring village Peminge. Each household is to receive a bin which shall be emptied on a regular basis.The bins will be financed by the villages with a token support from the Club. The villages have agreed to levy a waste collection fee. Furthermore it is intended to approach large businesses in the area to contribute to the program.

PP Jo Rosarius
PP Jo outlined the cleft lip and palate program. No cleft lip operation was conducted last week. Under the last Matching Grant 124 children had been operated on cleft lip and/or palate spending over IDR 400.000.000. Since 1994 the Club has financed over 1300 operations. The club is currently working on a Global Grant to be able to continue the program in a meaningful way.

Ari Murti
Ari Murti briefed on the HIV related projects which range from early detection to scholarships for HIV infected children. Under the early detection drive she has the vision to have 1000 midwifes and counselors trained.

As a next steps 70 more midwifes shall be trained in Badung and Tabanan. The Board has just approved the Tabanan training program which shall be conducted on 22/23 May 2012.

A first report has been just received after the training of midwifes in Klungkung. In the time from November 2011 to end of March 2012, 415 babies have been borne, all HIV negative.

Martin Aeschlimann
Martin informed that a professional eduction school in Zuerich, Switzerland, is likely to send soon varoius educational material for the traning of young professionals in the hospitality business.

Risto Poskiparta
VP Risto informed members that the tennis committee will meet after the luncheon. A new date for holding the tournament must be found as it had been overlooked that the initial date falls into Ramamadan. Gary Phair, the chairperson of the committee, is expected back in Bali after his eye operation in early June but will leave again on 20 August for the USA. The committee still needs to identify the tournament director. Risto asked members to come forward to join the tennis committee.

Dr. Reno Riandita
Dr. Reno announced that the BIMC Nusa Dua had just been opened and that he (Dr. Reno) is in discussion with his management colleagues at BIMC to use the CSR funds of the hospital for cleft lip operation to be conducted at BIMC.

Eni Pilianingsih
Eni said that she regretted that in the past she was not able to attend the luncheon meetings more frequently. She continues to be active with the Rotaracts and their club

PP Michael Burchett
PP Michael Michael Burchett he will look into the possibility of combining the farewell and handover dinners. Menu choices for the handover dinner will be given soon to the President. On behalf of the wine drinkers he thanked Reinhold Jantzen for bringing some bottles of an excellent red wine form Germany.

PP Edward Naus
PP Ed Naus reminded that the equivalent of USD 10.000 has been made available by RC Maasdorpen, Netherlands. RC Maasdorpen is awaiting instructions where the money shall be transferred to. The President advised that the transfer should be made to RC Bali Nusa Dua dedicated cleft palate account.

Vice President Risto Poskiparta
Vice President Risto Poskiparta welcomed members and visiting Rotarians.

Risto briefed visiting Rotarians and guests on RCBND’s projects and programs.

Risto then gave a summary of the points discussed and decision made during the Board meeting that was held prior to the the luncheon meeting.

• Under the matching grant 124 children had been operated on cleft lip and/or palate spending over IDR 400.000.000. The matching grant is exhausted now. After the final report had been filed and accepted the Club intents to apply for a Global Grant.
  
  
• The Board has approved the expansion of the Sawangan waste management project into the neighbouring village of Peminge. No additional funds will be needed. After the expansion is up and running the project shall be handed over to the Banjars of Sawangan and Peminge

Lastly Risto advised that PP Mimi Inkiriawang will receive the credentials as the Club’s delegate attending the RI Annual Conference in Bangkok from 6-9 May.

Nuni Kneip
Nuni reported that the boy having drunk accidentally “soda api” has been successfully operated in Jarkarta. IDR 5.000.000 donated by the Club has been used on transportation and accommodation for the family in Jakarta. The Governor of Bali has taken over the cost of medical treatment..

Ari Murti
Ari reported that the midwife training in Tabanan is scheduled for 23 May. She further reported that 200 sex workers operating in Nusa Dua are undergoing now monthly health test conducted by Puskesmas Nusa Dua. The sex workers are issued a yellow card where the tests are recorded. They and their ‘mamasan’ have to pay hefty fines if the health tests are missed.

Guest Rotarian Lars Ake Carlson
The visiting Rotarians are stopping over in Bali on their way to Bankok where they will attend the RI conference. IPDG Carlson asked for documentation regarding Cleft Lip to promote this program in his district.

PP Mimi Inkiriwan informed that RC Bali Seminyak is celebrating its 10th birthday on 19 May. Tickets are available with Ari Murti.

Keith Bell
Keith Bell informed that at the age of 60 he will be retiring and relocating to Mexico. He will leave Bali on 16 July. He plans to join one of the three Rotary Clubs existing in his new neighbourhood and remain active in the SKAL organization.

Susan Stein
Susan announced that she will leave for the USA soon expecting to be back in June.

PP Michael Burchett
PP Michael informed that the Club is organizing a farewell dinner for departing members Dave Lance and Keith Bell together with their spouses at Dona and Risto Poskiparta’s home e on 27 May. For golfing members a small tournament is planned at New Kuta Golf the same day, teeing off at 12.00 with the Raffles group. A respective note will soon be sent out.

PP Martin Smyth
PP Martin advised that our Club together with three other Bali RC won the “Changemaker Award” from RI President Kalyan Banerjee. IPDG Carlson informed that the Changemaker Award is given to clubs which modernize Rotary away from bureaucracy.

President Dave opened the meeting welcoming members and welcomed members and introduced his friend Jerry Bourne, visiting from the US.

Past President of Rotary Club of Burnside, Adelaide, Ross Roberston, who has visited before introduced himself said he was happy to be back.

Guest Rtn Leanne McAffer
Rtn Leanne McAffer, also a member of the RC of Burnside, Aadelaide introduced herself and told members she is currently responsible for the fundraising efforts for her club. Their target for this year is AUD 50,000.00 and they have already raised about 47,000.00.

Guest Roland Staehler
Roland introduced himself and invited all members to the Grand Opening of the Bali International Medical Centre, Nusa Dua. A formal invitation will follow by email. All are welcome to bring their staff to preview the facilities the new hospital will offer.

Karl-Heinz, Ari and PP Jo gave brief descriptions of our Sawangan pilot project, various HIV / AIDS programs and cleft palate program respectively for the benefit of our visitors.

Martin Aeshliman
Martin informed members that the final delivery of books had been made, and apart from the salary of the Librarian which will be paid till Jan 2013, the Library project was complete.

He also advised that he was in touch with the Dean of a leading educational institution in Zurich, Switzerland and will have complete information on the Chef education program shortly.

Martin offered his office as a resource library for the books that President Dave had donated while cleaning out his office. Please contact Martin if you have books to donate. He will catalogue books receive and make available the list of books to members interested in borrowing them.

Risto Poskiparta
Risto mentioned that Gary Phair is now in Australia under treatment for an eye ailment and will be there for a few months so we are looking for a volunteer to chair the Tennis Tournament Committee.

Risto also advised the club that the Handover Dinner will be on 1 June at “Spice” at the Conrad, in lieu of our weekly lunch meeting. Details will be sent out at a later date

PP Michael Burchett
PP Michael has volunteered to take the lead on the Sawangan Pilot project when Karl Heinz departs for his stint overseas.

Dr. Reno
Dr Reno, back after a long absence, advised he had been busy with the opening of BIMC. BIMC will explore tying us with the RCBND to fulfill its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) requirement.

PP Bruce Jellard
PP Bruce announced that our Annual Golf Tournament will be held on a Saturday in November at the New Kuta Golf Course. Bruce has already spoken to the GM there. Risto and Jo will assist Bruce in the organization of the tournament.

PP Edward Naus
PP Edward updated members on his quest to secure funding for our Global Grant application. The RC of Horst/ Haasdorpen will now contribute Euro 3,000.00 and Euro 5,000.00 will be donated by the Rector Schneider Foundation (The Netherlands). He has received written confirmation and will forward this to Treasurer, PP Jo.

President David Lance
President Dave opened the meeting welcoming members and announced that in the absence of a guest speaker, PP Mimi will give a presentation on the Global Grant process.

Karl-Heinz Schmelzer
Karl Heinz informed members that he has a meeting with R.O.L.E. later this afternoon, when expenses for Feb 2012 will be presented to him. The composting area is not yet complete. R.O.L.E. has suggested a roof to the area, which was not in the original budget, this will also be discussed.

Once completed and running photos will be taken and a presentation be prepared with a view to soliciting support from businesses in the area to ensure project sustainability after the end of the pilot period.

Karl – Heinz also mentioned that he is still looking for a volunteer to take over management of the pilot from September onwards when he will be away. Please contact him if you are able to take this on.

PP Jo Rosarius
PP Jo advised he had recently received a bill for 11 cleft palate operations. It appeared that 5 were incorrectly sent to us, he is investigating.

PP Bruce Jellard
Bruce informed the club that he will meet with PP Jo and IP Risto to discuss plans for our annual golf tournament. He has already met with Raja from the New Kuta Club, and it is planned to hold it at New Kuta in November 2012. They will report back on this at the next meeting.

Bruce advised that he had been to the R.O.L.E. eco park at their invitation on Tueday, but is not sure if he will accept their invitation to join a steering committee to make it more appealing. Responding to Karl-Heinz’s request he indicated he would not have time to take on leadership of the waste management project.

Ari informed all she was surprised that HIV programs has not been mentioned in an newspaper article on rotary projects. He had taken this up with the District team.

PP Wes
PP Wes announced that the on-line auction site for our annual tennis tournament’s fundraising has been set up with freeware and is now on-line and requested members to ‘test drive’ it at Rotary Bali Auctions. There are a couple sample auctions available to participate. Please give any feedback to Wes.

PP Michael advised that the handover dinner is confirmed for 21 June at Spices Restaurant at the Conrad.

Mimi gave a presentation on the Global grant process:

• The Global grant must be a minimum of USD 30,000.00.
• There must be at least 2 Rotary Clubs involved, both of which must belong to Pilot districts.
  > (PP Ed was requested to check if Rotary Club HORST/ MAASDORPEN is one.)
• The club must have a current MOU with the District, signed by the President, President Elect, Treasurer and TRF Chairperson
• A new bank account designated for the proposed project must be opened.
• Club members were required to agree to the project.
• The DDF contributed 3 years ago would be applied to the fund. 25% automatically, 25% with district approval. Mimi advised no DDF funds were available this year.
• RI matches the DDF 1:1 and other funds 1:0.5
• Global Grant “packages” are for projects over USD 200,000.00.
