the Children, schools, villages: This project was
initiated by PDG Mustain Sjadzali (98–99) to assist poor
children, schools and villages around Indonesia. Since
the economic crisis began in 1998, the inflationary rate
has been over 400%. This has forced many parents to stop
sending their children to school. They cannot afford uniforms,
books and transportation for their children. The government,
which has been hard hit, cannot give money to local schools
for repairs and equipment. Local villages do not have
the necessary funds to provide their inhabitants with
a clean water system, good sanitation or health clinics.
